Weekend runs

Add a comment! Yes it is hard to believe but but I did not race this weekend, instead I ended finishing my hardest training week (a 5 k race followed by some 40 odd miles). After Friday, my legs were struggling but I still took myself out for a 6 mile run Saturday, my normal 6 miles route around Thornbury, which is never quite a flat a you think especially with Thornbury hill and the undulations along the A38, by the time I got within 1 mile of home my quads were burning.
Then today was quite a busy day my mums birthday (Happy Birthday Mum), although we went to Mums I decided that running wasn’t the done thing, so I went out when we got home. I should have done 10 miles today, but my legs were hurting so I planned a route that I could turn off when ever I wanted, but the route I had chosen was also the toughest one I could have chosen. I ended up doing 9 miles (1 mile off my target, but hey who is counting).
My legs a hurting this evening, but I am planning on a very short recovery run tomorrow, 3 miles with 2 miles slow either side of a quiker mile including some strides. Then its recovery for probably one of my biggest races of my running career as there is a distant chance that I may get 3rd place in the Bitton 5k summer series.
