Tyntesfield Ten race report

Well the weather was spectacular. Clear blue skies and little wind. You couldn’t have asked for a more perfect setting. However I approached the run with caution as I really didn’t know how my leg was going to hold up.

On arrival there was a very friendly, chilled out atmosphere. I collected my race number, took a look at the route map and then strolled up to the start located next to Tyntesfield House.

With just under 400 runners, the Tyntesfield Ten was officially started by two-time Olympian and local running legend, Nick Rose.

So what was the route like? Well I loved it. It was pretty much all off road - just what I like - and included hills, narrow paths, open fields, meadows, some curious cows, the odd style, some steep steps and of course some spectacular scenery. Certainly a very varied, challenging course - not one for a PB - but certainly memorable.

The fastest time was 37.14 and the top prize was a pair of Innov8 trainers. Spot prizes were also given out and every runner received a Tyntesfield eco bag as memento.

For me I took the run really easy, soaked up the friendly atmosphere and beautiful surroundings and finished the whole race in just over an hour. More importantly my leg was fine. Well chuffed, especially as I missed out on the Bristol 10k! So a massive thanks for all the support from my running pals and the volunteer helpers from Nailsea Running Club and the National Trust.

Would I do this race again? Absolutely.
