RunBristol workshop tips
Looking for some training tips to make you faster/better/stronger? The RunBristol training day on Saturday at Ashton Court presented the 50 or so runners there with some excellent info on each of these things, with valuable info on sports nutrition and building up training as well.
Sessions were led by Runningwithus, and UK Athletic Coach Nick Anderson imparted wisdom, as well potentially controversial opinions on different types of training and what to do at various points in training. He advised not to add intervals until you had perfected the art of threshold running, and could run for 20 mins or more at 70-80% of threshold. Benefits of the morning run to train the body how to ‘run on empty’ were espoused, but the key theme was to vary training, rather than just going out and doing the same jog every time.
It was a great chance to do a coached run over the 5 k Parkrun course as well.
If you missed it this time, there are 2 more training days - Sat 23rd July and Sat 20th Aug. Both at Ashton Court. Click here for details.
