The Tyntesfield Ten
So it’s the Tyntesfield Ten this evening. Organised by Nailsea Running Club and the National Trust, it replaces the well-established Long Ashton 10k.
Described as a 10k (ish) off-road race within the grounds of the Tyntesfield estate, this should be a great event. I’ve never been to Tyntesfield, so I am really looking forward to exploring this beautiful place, and yes I have been warned, its pretty hilly!
I am going to have to take it really easy though on this run as I’m suffering with an injury. As I mentioned in my previous blog I started to get some twinges on one of my shins a couple of weeks ago. I decided to get it checked out before any more damage was done and as I had feared it was the beginnings of shin splints. I have had some treatment, but I haven’t run now for nearly three weeks due to illness and injury. It’s amazing how quickly your running can be affected
Despite this, I have decided to go ahead with the run anyway, but intend to go very carefully and maybe walk the hills. I am just going to have to listen to my body and stop when I need to. One of my running buddies also has an injury, so we are both going to take it easy and take in the sights of Tyntesfield. So with my leg strapped up, and plenty of warm up exercises, fingers crossed all should be OK. I think this will definitely be more of a sight-seeing run than a race for me. I’ll report back in a couple of days.
