Nailsea Festival 10k
Phil | Add a comment! Evening races outside of North Bristol are always a rush to get to and today was no different. I must remember to print off the directions to go to the race. Safe to say I was was there with 10 mins spare - just enough time to do a quick warm up.
The race started and I went off too quickly for me, completing the first 5k in approx 17 mins. There was no chance of negative splits with that. I was in 2nd place at this point, but by the second time we hit the hill, I was in fourth, I was starting to struggle with a stitch (again!!!) and a dog off a lead bounding towards me meant I lost my stride. I got to the top of the hill with 3k left and I was then passed again. Early quick pace was starting to tell, and that’s how it finished. I came home in 5th place in a time of 36:16, so I am pleased with tonights work.
Using tonight’s race as a confidence booster, I am going to have a recovery run tomorrow, a 5 mile run on Friday, and rest Saturday before the track races on Sunday - I am really looking forward to these events.
