Strange gear for the time of year

Add a comment! My running is going OK at the moment. I’m still managing 3 or so runs a week, 5-10km, and no soreness in the shins etc. This is great news. And, since I am a rather stressed bunny at the moment, the ability to get out and work it off is most welcome. No matter what happens, you’ve always got your body, and it feels good to put it to work.
I’m not fast though. I need to get back into speed work and do some races.
Anyway, I was out on The Downs the other morning at about 6.30am and even at that time of day it was very warm. I was in my running vest and sweating buckets.
Then, this tall figure appears, running towards my friends and I. He is wearing a wooley hat and waterproof jacket!
I realised it was Haggai Chepkwony. He’s from Africa and normally runs very fast. Is that why a gentle jog on a summer’s morning might feel a bit chilly? Elite athletes - please do tell - what is the secret of running in your winter clothes on a summers day?
