Fish foot therapy

Add a comment! In these tough times, commercial creativity could not be more important, and in Bristol we look to The Galleries in Broadmead (of course) to show us the way.
If you’ve been pounding your feet a lot recently and feel they need a bit of a clean up, then why not get yourself down to the new foot spa, called Dr SpaFish, and have all the dead skin nibbled away by their Garra Rufa fish, also known as the Doctor Fish? Perhaps the reason why not is because you can think of better things to do with a tenner than dipping your feet in fish wee and being tickled for 15 minutes.
Don’t be too cynical though. This is nothing new. It’s been going on in Turkey for a long time, and has caught on all around the world. There is much talk of it being good for psoriasis, and the water is filtered and treated with UV light to kill bacteria.
The people at Dr SpaFish claim they already have many runners amongst their customers, and I have to admit when I’ve been in rivers in South America, the nibbling I’ve experienced was quite pleasant. But perhaps the less said about that the better.
Apparently these fish don’t have teeth, and they are extremely effective at nibbling away dead skin and leaving what remains feeling smooth and soft.
Here’s an article I found on the web: Risks and Health Benefits of Turkish “Doctor Fish”.
Have you been? Please tell us what you thought. Do you know of any other strange treatments in Bristol you would recommend to fellow runners?
