Frampton 10k

Well, its been 5 days since my last blog and 5 days since my last run, which is not great preparation for a race especially if you add in a weekend away where I didn’t really keep an eye on food or drink that passed my lips.

Anyway, I drove along to Frampton on Severn for their annual 10k, this event is extremely well supported, the course isn’t hard but isn’t that easy, but not that spectacular, so it must be the free cider on completion, an extra to a well run event.

Still on the chase for a sub 35 min 10k, I went out with a plan, which was to run a flat split 3 min 30 kilometer all the way, well it seemed a good plan and I did try to stick to it but Frampton is along the Severn and tonight the breeze was making itself known around the course. I still ran hard and  not much notably happened but came home in a time of 35:33 (time by my watch) in ninth place, which is very respectable as this race does pull in some good quality runners.

I am off over the bridge this weekend for the Magor Marsh 10k (a flat course), so I am hoping to at least beat my PB and even push for a sub 35 min 10k.

Thinking out loud, next year is going to be different, with baby number 2 around my time to race will be very restrictive, so now I have done nearly all the local races, I am thinking on picking and choosing the ones I want to run next year and ensure I have enough time to recover and train properly in between races.
