Well, it was rather wet and cold watching everyone. Inspiring, and a great privilage to be on the start/finish line, so thanks again to the race Director at Bristol City Council for letting me have a press pass. Once again, it looked like a really well organised event.

There is a great photo of Bristol & West AC’s own Claire Hallisey winning the womens’ race. Well done Claire! Also, some nice pics from the start line of both waves, and lots of photos of runners from local Bristol clubs crossing the finish line.
In the men’s race Edwin Kipyego was first in 1:03:08, followed by Shiferaw Tewodros and Andy Vernon from the UK in 1:04:43. The first male Bristol runner was our own Steve McGuigan - well done Steve!
As mentioned, Claire Hallissey from Bristol & West AC won the women’s race (2nd year in a row) in 1:12:02 followed by Tanith Maxwell and Becky Penty.
But I was lucky to witness even more drama over the following hour as thousands more crossed the line with cries of anguish and victory - whether gaining a new personal best, beating 90 mins, 120 mins, or simply finishing. The battle is the same regardless of speed - everyone is a winner, and it’s great to see human beings giving their all, to finish with a smile or to crash onto a stretcher. No matter how old, how heavy, how fast, how rich or poor, everyone is the same when they are out running.
And, of course, it’s Bristol too.
