Training Runs

Add a comment! Well, although I didn’t race yesterday morning I have managed to do two 11k runs.
Yesterday, I went from Thornbury to Wickwar (to see the in-laws), which can be a bit dicey at times due to the busy roads, no side walks, and one road being the trunk road between Yate and the M5, so there is quite a few artic lorries flying by. Anyway when ever I do this route I make sure I am prepared to stop, jump into hedge rows and the like so not to be too much of a obstacle for the faster moving traffic. I reached Wickwar, and stretched myself along the main street a good 400m effort to finish with. I got to my in-laws in just under 41 mins.
Today, I planned to do a run I haven’t done since before I came down with glandular fever - run home from work which is a good 9 miles from Filton to Thornbury, but arrangements meant that I actually started in Patchway, where I left the car for Emma to drive home. The A38 is a simple road to run along - yes a bit busy - but you don’t really notice it. It is unfortunately a steady climb from Almondsbury to Alveston, with a big drop down Thornbury Hill. I must admit it was warmer than I thought - quite humid in fact. Nevertheless I got home again in 41 minutes. Legs seem good for it not too tired.
It’s rest day tomorrow, ready to run the Nailsea Festival 10k. I have not done this one before, but apparently it’s a tough one.
My plan for the rest of the week, is to run Thursday and Friday, probably both about 5 - 6 miles but run on the easy side (yeh right!), then rest Saturday ready for Avon Athletics League on Sunday afternoon. It has been confirmed that I will do to 5000m, 1500m and the Javelin, I can’t wait!!
