Groundhog day?

Add a comment! The schedule, if I had one, would probably have prescribed a 12-mile run today but we had visitors staying, work had been hectic and I’d had a late night so opted for a four mile run this morning. A sports massage on Friday hadn’t quite settled down and various muscles around my back were making their presence felt.
It was, to put it mildly, a struggle. Bits hurt, I couldn’t get up hills at anything resembling a run and I could be sitting at home drawing my pension and knitting quietly in the rocking chair by the radiatorside. I headed off into Blaise and down to the Dingle. All the downhills have an uphill in retaliation. On my way back I’d given up trying (and nearly given up hope) and was walking stretches. Near the ponds I set off running again (well, it’s flatter there) and was overtaken by a runner who called “That’s good. Keep it going!” as he passed me. The comment got me, at a steady plod, up the next hill (where the lovely beech tree roots are) and helped me back up to the museum.
I came home, waved goodbye to the visitors, had some breakfast, sat around a bit and went out for another four miles around Kingsweston. I’m short of the scheduled twelve miles but four miles better than I thought it would be.
Some day I’m going to do a run, eat, run, eat (repaeat as necessary) and see how many miles I can do in the day. It might have to be quite soon.
In the mean time, I’d like to say “Thank you” to that Bristol and West runner. A word of encouragement can work wonders!
