Mile efforts - Aztec West

Training today was planned as part of Claire Hallisey’s Bristol Half training, I just tagged along. For those of you who keep an eye on the local athletics press, Claire has recently won the GB 10000m title and then followed that by winning the Newark Half in a time of 1 hr 13 mins, this has put as one of the favourites to take the Women’s Bristol Half title next month. So for me this was going to be a tough session.

The plan was to do 5 reps of the mile circuit in around 5.15 - 5.20 pace. I kept up with Claire for the first two reps completing them in 5.07 and 5.11 respectively but after that my lack of endurance started to show (plus Sundays efforts) whilst Claire carried on completing the reps in 5.12, I was gradually getting further behind and ended up with 5.22, 5.28 and 5.37. Although my times increased some what, by no means did I lower the amount of effort.

I am plaaning on a long recovery run approx 13 miles but not pushing it this will be done nice and easy.
