Crimbo Limbo

Add a comment! It is that time of year that the radio stations have started to call “Crimbo Limbo”, with people trying to recover from the Christmas Festivities and get ready for the New Year Parties. For this year I am going to rename it baby limbo, Emma still has no sign of “popping”!!.
Running wise it has been a frustrating couple of weeks, I damned everyone by blogging that I wanted to do 12 days of consecutive training, by the time I woke up we had 2 inches of snow. Given the conditions I felt it wise that I didn’t run, last thing I need is to be lame (alright spare the comments) just at the time the baby is due. I did however manage to get out later in the week.
Wednesday - Roads and paths still very slippery but managed to do 8.5 mile around Thornbury and Alveston, in under 55 mins which I am not complaining at given that most of the time I felt like I was ice skating, but I still did better than some cars in various places.
Thursday - Normally this is my tempo session 6 miles in under 36 mins, yes I didn’t achieve that but did get home in under 38 mins, with the compacted snow now ice the path ways were worse than the day before.
Crimbo and Boxing Day - Cooked and eat lots, oh and walked the dog, that was about it.
Sunday - 70 mins steady - With the roads now cleared of ice and snow I did get out and manage to fit this session in, and I did enjoy it it was nice to start to burn off all that turkey.
Monday - 45 mins steady - I didn’t mange to get out but hey other things do take priority at times.
Tuesday - 5 x 1mile efforts - I have swapped my schedule around this week and decided to do my tempo run, poor decision, I couldn’t get going and managed to do 37 mins (perhaps it is the course I am using)
Today - 9 miles recovery - I managed to get for this one, but I did push myself the session ended up being a steady work out rather than a recovery, I averaged just under 6 mins 30 per mile.
What next, this still depends on Emma and her bump, but I plan to do the efforts tomorrow, may chose to do a different style, but I will manage to fit in my 30 mins session.
This week does close out my first month of my new schedule, my impressions are that I am getting stronger, understanding my abilities a lot more especially when doing those speed sessions on my own. I am looking forward to getting back into competition (I was very jealous when looking at the Chrimbo Limbo race results).
