What no rest

Add a comment! I am writing this, slightly annoyed (slight understatement), as this is the second time I have written today’s blog, I hit the wrong button and sent my previous blog into oblivion never to be seen again, doohhh. From memory here goes…
With only 5 days to go until Christmas and the weather becoming more wintry over the past week, it could have been quite easy to keep my trainers in the cupboard and stay in the warmth. But no, I have made a promise to myself and as far as I can I will follow it.
Friday - Training plan “Easy Run 25 mins” - I went out into the cold and got home in just over 26 mins and ran four miles seems very short these days but did its job and loosened my tight and tired legs. Look back into my running history, I used to run that course in the same time but it was at my top speed, 2 years later I am running that speed and distance as an easy run!!
Saturday - Training Plan “Recovery Run 30 mins” - Again I went out into the cold for the first time with 2 long sleeve tops on, pushed myself a bit more than the plan required and did a 40 min session copvering 6 miles. My legs struggled up the hills but still pleased with my efforts.
Yesterday- Training Plan “Long Steady Run 70 mins” - This week I chose to run round Thornbury and Alveston, but I also decided to use the steep hills to climb up rather than run down. I completed the 70 mins with a mile to go from home, looking at my Garmin I had run was on schedule and ran some 11 miles in that time, I used my last my as a gentle warm down. I am now starting to reap the rewards of this training plan, this is the first time I have done 8 consecutive days of training.
I do plan and follow my training plan but take Christmas Day off, unless I want a divorce that is!!! That will mean twelve days of consecutive training, without any races that is nmy goal. The maybe (hopeful soon) an interruption, Emma has now got 1 week to go until full term, and that is one interruption to training I will be glad to have.
