About time too.

It has been about a week since my last blog, I did plan to do a couple over the week but finding the time was difficult. But hey these things are sent to try us.

My week hasn’t been that bad, I am still running for one thing, beginning to sort my breathing out properly, getting some (not enough though) mileage in and of course managing to compete in a couple of races.

Sine the Speed Training blog made last week I carried on with my training on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of that week, I got in 20 miles, still trying to build up a good training base. I had a rest day on Saturday ready for the South West Cross Country Relays, held at Kings College in Taunton. It is a good event but could do with a bit more advertisement and support from running clubs in the South West, please look out for this event next year. Well I was part of the B&W B team taking the 2nd leg, I was put in a strange position in leading the 2nd league, but just after the half way point of lap one, my fellow team mate andA team member passed me. I went round the 2 lap 2 mile course in a time of 10:24, positive time considering I still haven’t raced full cross country event for 2 years and even then I have only raced in 2 senior events.

I had a rest day on Monday ready for the Bridge Inn 5k on Tuesday, I wanted to use this race to get me back in the swing of running road races again, I have to say I enjoyed it especially when I finished and realised that I had broken the 17 minute barrier, better than I hoped for andeven better that I wanted to race but not to my normal level of effort. Which meant that I could follow up the race with a few more miles. I came home 8th place in a time of 16:57. Out of 12 5k event I have run this year I have only gone over the 17 minute mark twice, some improvement form the year before.

I managed 4 miles yesterday and then tried a new route today which was 9.5 miles in length through the Blaise estate and surrounding area. I am planning on a good session of hill climbs and 2 longish runs over the next couple of days, then it will be somke slight tapering ready for the Sodbury Slog on the 8th
