Running in the heat

Man, that was h o t !

Finally managed to get a run in, up and around the downs, just over 10k - and my slowest on that route all year. My groin thing was there all the way, so I just took it slow, shortened my stride, and reminded myself it is just good to be out.

I like running in the rain. The wind - well, that’s just like going up hill. I like hills. I don’t like the heat. From what I can work out, it was between 26-28 C.

Running in the heat really gets to me morale-wise. And does anyone have any tips about stopping the sweat from stinging the eyes? A friend said I really shouldn’t wear a headband. He said it in a way that implied I should know why, so I just nodded knowingly, but actually why not? Does it make the head hot? Or is it just not fashionable?

But it is a lovely day, and fantastic to get a run round the downs in the sun at a relatively quite time of the day. And although it was very slow, I know I should be able to get more out for the Bridge Inn 5k next Tuesday - groin willing.

I’ve also heard that Vaseline in he eyebrows helps (with the sweat, not the groin), but I’ve not got round to trying it. Any other suggestions?
