Discussion > Good 10k loops in Bristol

Hi everyone!
I'm new to running - I've been running for maybe a few weeks. I've got to the stage where I can comfortably run 5k albeit not very fast! I normally go up to Clifon Down, and do a circuit plus a little bit in the middle to make up the distance but I'd like to try to run further - and I don't like the idea of doing two laps. Also I prefer to run on grass.
Does anyone know of somewhere near Bristol with a good 10k loop that I can try?
Thanks!
Alex.

Hi Alex

Thanks for posting here. As you may know Dave has posted some helpful remarks at the bottom of this post:

and I would agree you may find this a good read.

It sounds to me like you live near Clifton, so if you want more soft ground I think your best bet would be to run over the bridge into Ashton Court and Leigh woods.

But, unless you have a specific reason, I would not be too nervous of running on the road a bit more. Personally, I don't buy the theory that running on the road is generally bad for people - especially if your body has adjusted to running and the distances are not too great.

Although not about running on hard surfaces, this article may be of interest to anyone who wants to debate the dangers of running to our joints.
