Discussion > What training is best for this time of year?
Well i dont think that could be right. I agree with you as surly both hill running and a speed run a week or rotating these everyother week is the way to go to improving your stregnth and stamminer.

depends on your race programme i think. if your races include hills then keep up the hill sessions or run a hilly run maybe once per week
running speed sessions instead of hills during track season is the traditional approach for those looking to improve track performance
with 2or3 qualty sessions on track each week you should be 2tired 4hills
dropping a track session 4a hill session is ok prior 2a hilly race but not if you have a track pb in your sights 4your next race

I think training has to be totally specific to your racing. But then it has to include efforts/runs of below and above your race distance and below and above your race intensity! But obviously efforts above race intensity should be short

It has separately been suggested that once your at a level of training you can sustain, you can add in one speed session and one hill session a week, no matter what time of the year, to your core mileage and you will see good improvement over time.
It can be very confusing. What do you think?
