Discussion > Athletics Club - Children

Just a quick query to see if you can advise me of an Athletic Club, that is situated on the South side of Bristol.
I have a son who lives near Chew Valley, but is currently struggling to find an after School Club, that can help him pursue track activities, such as the 100 or 200 Metres.
Could you please advise of any?

From Tommo

"Found this place on my travels, for those of you, who may be interested it can be found at Whitchurch Sports Centre ( Near, where the new Hospital is being built)..

The main track nights for anyone under 11 is Wednesday evenings at 7.00 pm. Above that age Wednesday is a good evening for middle distance runners or sprinters looking for some endurance training. There is a specialist throws coach (not javelin) and another coach who will cover high jump javelin etc.

The Thursday evening track sessions also from 7.00 pm includes sprints, long jump and sometimes javelin.

Some events training may be at other locations. Pole vaulters are still using Bath Uni indoor facilities.

Students in school year 6 and above have access to competitions in the National Young Athletes League and Avon Track & Field League. Under 11s (years 4 & 5) can do some non team scoring events in the Avon League.

I think Weston AC have a Juniors section. I have a friend whose son goes but I don't know more than that.
